JS Watch co. Reykjavik is now introducing the latest addition to The Islandus collection, a watch asked for by our collectors in search of unique and personal design: Islandus Chronograph, a self wound mechanical chronograph with a traditional column-wheel. The Islandus collection is one of our largest collections and one of the most sought after. This new creation meets the requirements of evolving demands with regard to watches as well as to the growing popularity of mechanical chronographs and the fascination for traditional chorological devices. This watch is our first complication watch and others will follow. In spite of the look and feel of a traditional chronograph, we still maintain the design in a classic style and minimalism is what we seek to deliver; less is more when it comes to design. When worn this watch gives you a special feeling, almost like going 60 years back in time and you are looking for your trench coat and Humphrey Bogart hat. This sets our collections apart from others along with the fact that we limit the production to only 100 watches per year.
JS Watch co. Reykjavik may be small, but being small does not mean that we use any material that does not meet the highest standards and quality. All parts created for our watch collections are crafted in Germany and Switzerland while adhering to our own designs by nine esteemed companies that have been specializing in creating either cases, movements, dials hands, or straps etc. for some of the world’s leading watch brands over many decades, while also enjoying a reputation for the highest quality production from only the best materials available. We then hand assemble every single watch in our collection with a profound respect for traditional watch making in our workshop in Reykjavik, Iceland. There the watchmaker’s hand and a highly trained eye are the most vital tools used.
This Chronograph is based on our 44mm Islandus case, made from the finest German surgical grade steel “316L” which is the same utilized for medical implants, including pins, screws and orthopedic implants such as total hip and knee replacements. The movement is the well renowned Valjoux 7750 Chronograph “Execution Top” and “Assortment chronometer”. The movement is custom decorated and has 25 jewels, blued screws and rhodium plated finish.
As with all our previous collections this amazing new watch is packed with detail and personality. This time we offer the day disk in either Icelandic or English, and the day is placed at the highly unusual nine o'clock spot which is just one of the many unique characteristics of this timepiece. This watch can be fitted with a Genuine Handmade Alligator strap or a Genuine Handmade Ostrich strap, as well as with various colored hands and four different dial colors with roman numerals.
We will only provide our customers with the best possible material, craftsmanship and ambition in order to craft the perfect watch. We constantly try to dream up new ideas to distinguish our watches from the rest and this watch is no exception from this rule.
